Golden Oldies for the Alumni

Did you know......?

  • Prof. Tellone was in the first graduating class of HRI in 1971 and ...

  • was the first MCC grad to be hired as a full time instructor in 1973 and ...

  • began in the lodging business at the age of seven.  (His family purchased a motel) and...

  • is the only instructor who has ever taught Beverage Management at the college.

  • Students actually used to sample wines, spirits, & beers in a course of the same name until the drinking age went from 18 up to 21.


Names - The first chair of the department was named Pepper and we had a restaurant major named Tom Cook and a hotel major named Marilyn Rooms.  Isn't it odd that one of our chef instructors was named Nudle, the vice president was Fishco, and the college president was Bakum at the time?  A young lady in food prep was named Qui Chen We have had students named Maryott, Coffey, Chow and Bates (who should never open a motel).  I had a food prep student named Anthony Monilla - I just couldn't bring myself to ask if he had an uncle Sal...
